Attorney Amanda Lingold Spencer
Amanda’s practice focuses on family law. She is warm and compassionate with clients and tough on opponents. Her legal work centers on child custody, divorce, adoption, contempt and modification actions. Amanda is adept at both negotiating and litigating, and her no-nonsense approach to legal matters means she’s honest, forthright and direct in assessing each legal case. She credits her childhood playing sports when describing herself as “competitive and someone who likes to win.”
Some of her most satisfying family law experiences include reuniting abducted children with their parents and helping make families whole again.
Amanda received her undergraduate degree in 2000 from the University of Southern Mississippi and her Juris Doctorate from Mississippi College School of Law in 2003. She is a member of the Mississippi Bar Association and the Rankin County Bar Association.
Amanda honed her sharp legal skills early in her career when she represented a major Mississippi insurance company, assisted in mass tort defense, and represented individuals in civil lawsuits and family law cases. She spent more than seven years serving as the Youth Court Prosecutor in Rankin County, where she used the law to protect abused and neglected children. She also prosecuted offenders under the age of 18 who were charged with crimes.
In January 2012, she returned to the general practice of law in Florence where she aggressively represents clients to achieve favorable outcomes. She also serves as Guardian ad litem in the Chancery Court of Rankin County, and other counties assisting the court in investigating child custody cases.
Amanda is deeply committed to the community and her faith. She coached youth soccer in town for six years and served in various roles including a Trustee and on Personnel Committee at First Baptist Church of Florence. She volunteers with the local school PTO and heads up a community women’s ministry. She’s an enthusiastic member of the University of Southern Mississippi Alumni Club, and she leads a Bible study on Wednesday evenings. She happily resides in Florence with her husband and two sons.
Amanda describes herself this way: “Some attorneys promise you everything under the sun and then can’t deliver. I don’t do that. I’m a straight talker and don’t sugar-coat things. A lot of clients appreciate that.”
